ProCap Newsletter No. 62
Dear Clients,
This week, we would like to address a circumstance that frequently arises in online investment fraud cases and often causes confusion among victims.
Many victims report that, when they attempted to withdraw funds or resolve problems with their accounts, they received different explanations from the individuals representing the platform.
Some were told that additional verification was required. Others were informed that taxes needed to be paid before funds could be released. In certain cases, victims were advised that technical issues, compliance reviews, anti-money laundering procedures, account upgrades, or other requirements had to be completed first.
At first glance, these explanations may appear unrelated. However, when information from a larger number of victims is reviewed and compared, it is often possible to identify recurring patterns.
Although the specific explanation may differ from one person to another, the practical result is frequently the same: the requested withdrawal is delayed, additional payments are requested, or access to funds remains restricted.
For this reason, explanations that initially appear unique to a particular account may become more significant when considered alongside information obtained from other victims.
In cases involving a large number of affected individuals, authorities and investigators often compare communications, account records, and other information in order to identify similarities and recurring methods of operation.
We therefore encourage victims to preserve all communications relating to withdrawal requests, account restrictions, verification procedures, tax demands, compliance reviews, or any other explanations provided by the platform.
Even where different reasons were given, such information may assist in understanding how a particular scheme operated and whether similar patterns were experienced by other victims.
As always, we will continue to monitor developments and keep you informed of any information relevant to your case.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
