Grand Pacific Trade Call Center Scam Newsletter No. 88
Dear Clients,
One of the questions we receive most frequently is why criminal proceedings involving online investment fraud often take longer than many other criminal cases.
One of the main reasons is the complexity of these proceedings. Such cases frequently involve a large number of victims, numerous financial transactions, extensive communications that must be reviewed, and events that have taken place across multiple jurisdictions rather than within a single country.
In addition, funds are often transferred through multiple bank accounts, payment service providers, or other intermediaries, making it necessary to establish the flow of funds and obtain information from various sources. Where a case has an international element, certain procedural steps may also require cooperation between the competent authorities of different countries, which can further affect the overall duration of the proceedings.
It is important to emphasize that the complexity of a case does not, in itself, indicate anything about its eventual outcome. On the contrary, cases involving a larger number of victims and more extensive documentation often require additional time to ensure that all relevant facts are properly established and documented.
Although proceedings of this nature may take longer than victims would understandably wish, the time required is often a consequence of the complexity of the case rather than an indication that no action is being taken.
As always, we will continue to monitor the progress of the proceedings and keep you informed of any significant developments.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
