Grand Pacific Trade Call Center Scam Newsletter No. 95

Dear Clients,

As previously reported, in the Grand Pacific Trade matter we are awaiting further information regarding the additional investigation.

This week, we would like to explain what the term “additional investigation” may actually mean and why the fact that further investigative steps are required does not, in itself, mean that the case has come to a standstill.

Why may an additional investigation be required?

In complex financial cases, the information gathered during the initial stage may not be sufficient for the competent authority to make a final procedural decision.

It may be necessary to further examine certain transactions, obtain additional documentation, clarify the roles of particular individuals, or connect information previously gathered from different sources.

In international investment cases, this process may be even more complex because relevant information may be held by banks, companies, payment service providers or other institutions located in different jurisdictions.

Does the need for additional enquiries mean that the previous work produced no results?

Not necessarily.

Further investigative steps may be required precisely because an issue identified during an earlier stage requires additional clarification.

At the same time, the existence of an additional investigation does not make it possible to predict its eventual outcome.

It is therefore important to distinguish between the fact that certain enquiries are continuing and assumptions about the decision the competent authority may ultimately make.

Why can this process take time?

A financial trail can rarely be reconstructed on the basis of a single payment alone.

When funds pass through multiple accounts, companies or jurisdictions, each additional step may require new information to be obtained, examined and compared.

For this reason, in investment fraud cases, a period without a new decision that can be communicated to victims does not necessarily mean that the information previously collected is no longer relevant.

What is the current status of the Grand Pacific Trade matter?

At present, we have no new official information confirming the completion of the additional investigation, nor any new procedural decision that we can verify.

Accordingly, no additional action is currently required from our clients.

We will continue to monitor the matter and will inform you once we receive verified information that changes the current procedural status.

Thank you for your continued trust.

Kind regards,
