Bitclub Newsletter No. 158
Dear Clients,
We would like to provide you with an update on recent developments in the BitClub case, concerning defendants Jobadiah Sinclair Weeks and Matthew Brent Goettsche:
- Motion for Partial Return of Digital Assets
Defendant Jobadiah Sinclair Weeks has filed a motion seeking the partial return of specific digital assets, including 3.6704622 BTC, 48.916537 ETH, 91.851854 LTC, and 2.9765462 BCH, with an approximate total value of $400,000. His defense asserts that these assets represent only a portion of the originally seized property and that no criminal forfeiture order has been issued with respect to them. The Court is currently reviewing this motion. - Continuance of Proceedings
The Court has granted a continuance of the trial due to the complexity of the case and the volume of evidence, including millions of electronic records and digital materials from multiple jurisdictions. This extension allows additional time for the defense to prepare and for further legal proceedings to take place. - Defense Submissions Regarding Compliance with Release Conditions
The defendants’ attorneys have stated that their clients have complied with the conditions of release, including Weeks’ presence at the hospital during the birth of his child and interactions with visitors, asserting that these actions were in accordance with Court orders. This is the position of the defendants’ counsel, not a formal finding by the Court.
Our team continues to closely monitor all developments in the case and to use all available legal mechanisms to protect the rights and interests of our clients.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
