Bitclub Newsletter No. 147
Dear Clients,
We would like to inform you of an important development within the broader context of cases related to BitClub Network.
The United States Department of Justice has dismissed the criminal charges against Christopher James Scanlon, who was previously indicted for operating an unlicensed financial institution. Through a number of affiliated companies (PMA Media Group, Aurae Lifestyle, Nvayo Limited, Club Swan, AU Card LLC), Scanlon facilitated financial transactions for numerous clients involved in multi-level marketing and online financial schemes.
According to the investigation, these clients defrauded consumers of more than $1.7 billion through various models.
The decision to drop the charges was filed on April 30, 2025, with the reasoning that “further prosecution of this charge is not in the interests of the United States at this time.” The defense had moved to dismiss the indictment based on the Speedy Trial Act, arguing that over 70 days had passed since the indictment was filed without a trial being scheduled. On May 12, the court also ordered the return of $1 million posted as bail.
Although this decision does not directly affect the ongoing case against Jobadiah Sinclair Weeks and other defendants in the BitClub Network matter, it represents a notable procedural development in related cases. As previously reported, a hearing was held on May 20, 2025, in the Weeks case, during which multiple motions were reviewed, including one to withdraw a guilty plea.
We will continue to monitor all relevant developments and keep you regularly updated on the progress of this and other connected proceedings.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
