HotNews No. 151: 9M AI and Global “Click a Button” App Fraud

by | Dec 19, 2025 | Hot News | 0 comments

Dear Clients,

Regulators in Hong Kong have issued a warning regarding the 9M AI platform, which operates as a “click a button” Ponzi scheme. The platform claims to offer investments in virtual assets and additional rewards through a VIP system, but it is not registered to provide investment services, making it illegal under Hong Kong law.

9M AI is a typical example of transnational “click a button” scams that have become a global problem. Organized criminal groups, primarily based in China and Southeast Asia, use complex networks of fake executives, political protection, and coerced employees to continue these schemes, often targeting investors worldwide.

Over the past few years, these scams have expanded beyond Asia – new scam factories have been reported in Nigeria, Angola, and Brazil, while hundreds of thousands of people globally have been forced to participate in these illegal operations. Certain local and international officials have been sanctioned for involvement, but the problem remains ongoing.

How to protect yourself:

  • Avoid investing in unregistered apps and platforms promising fast and high returns with “one click.”
  • Verify the company’s regulatory status with authorities in your jurisdiction.
  • Keep all messages and transaction confirmations for potential future investigations.
  • Be cautious of programs offering recruitment bonuses or VIP rewards.

This case highlights the importance of monitoring official regulatory warnings and exercising extreme caution when considering investments in digital or virtual financial products.
