We would like to provide you with an overview of the next stages of the proceedings after the opening of the main trial so that you know what to expect.

What happens after the trial begins
Once the court opens the main trial, evidence is presented. In this phase

• The prosecution presents evidence and calls witnesses, including victims
• The defendants have the right to defend themselves and present their evidence and witnesses
• Experts may be called to analyze financial transactions, fraud mechanisms, and other key aspects

Trials in complex international cases can last for months or even years, depending on the number of defendants, witnesses, and the volume of evidence.

How is the verdict reached
After the main trial, the court renders a verdict based on all the evidence and testimonies. There are three possible outcomes

• Guilty verdict – if the court determines that the defendants are guilty, it imposes a sentence
• Acquittal – if the court finds there is not enough evidence for a conviction
• Partial verdict – if some defendants are found guilty while others are acquitted

If there is a guilty verdict, the court will also consider the issue of asset recovery. Victims may then expect a decision on potential compensation from the seized funds.

What can you do

• If you receive a summons to testify, respond, as your statement may be crucial
• Keep all evidence of payments and communication with the platform
• Follow the proceedings and be patient – cases of this type are complex, but international experience shows that many end in convictions

Was passiert nach Beginn des Prozesses
Sobald das Gericht die Hauptverhandlung eröffnet, werden Beweise vorgelegt. In dieser Phase

• Die Staatsanwaltschaft präsentiert Beweise und ruft Zeugen auf, darunter auch Opfer
• Die Angeklagten haben das Recht, sich zu verteidigen und eigene Beweise sowie Zeugen vorzubringen
• Sachverständige können hinzugezogen werden, um Finanztransaktionen, Betrugsmechanismen und andere zentrale Aspekte zu analysieren

Prozesse in komplexen internationalen Fällen können Monate oder sogar Jahre dauern, abhängig von der Anzahl der Angeklagten, Zeugen und der Menge an Beweismaterial.

Wie wird das Urteil gefällt
Nach der Hauptverhandlung fällt das Gericht ein Urteil auf Grundlage aller Beweise und Zeugenaussagen. Es gibt drei mögliche Ergebnisse

• Schuldspruch – wenn das Gericht feststellt, dass die Angeklagten schuldig sind, wird eine Strafe verhängt
• Freispruch – wenn das Gericht entscheidet, dass nicht genügend Beweise für eine Verurteilung vorliegen
• Teilurteil – wenn einige Angeklagte schuldig gesprochen werden, während andere freigesprochen werden

Im Falle einer Verurteilung wird das Gericht auch die Frage der Vermögensrückführung prüfen. Die Opfer können dann mit einer Entscheidung über eine mögliche Entschädigung aus den beschlagnahmten Mitteln rechnen.

• Falls Sie eine Vorladung als Zeuge erhalten, folgen Sie dieser, da Ihre Aussage entscheidend sein kann
• Bewahren Sie alle Beweise für Zahlungen und Kommunikation mit der Plattform auf
• Verfolgen Sie das Verfahren und haben Sie Geduld – Fälle dieser Art sind komplex, aber internationale Erfahrungen zeigen, dass viele mit Verurteilungen enden
