Dear Clients,

At present, we have no new official information concerning the completion of the additional investigation or a new procedural decision in the Grand Pacific Trade case.

While we continue to monitor the case, this week we would like to briefly address an important aspect of international investment fraud investigations: why the first account that received a victim’s money may be only the beginning of the financial trail.

The first recipient may not be the final destination

When a victim makes a payment, the bank account or company receiving that payment provides an important starting point.

However, funds may subsequently be transferred between other accounts, companies, payment providers or jurisdictions. In some cases, they may also be converted into cryptocurrency or otherwise moved through several stages.

For this reason, identifying the original recipient does not necessarily answer the more important question: where did the money ultimately go?

Why can later transactions matter?

Following subsequent transfers may reveal connections between accounts, companies or individuals that were not apparent when the original investment was made.

This is also one reason why investigations involving international financial transactions may require time and cooperation between authorities and financial institutions in different jurisdictions.

For victims, payment confirmations, bank statements and other transaction records therefore remain important even many years after the original investment.

What does this mean for Grand Pacific Trade?

We are not suggesting that any particular new financial trail has been identified in the Grand Pacific Trade case. At present, there is no verified new development requiring action from our clients.

We will continue to monitor the additional investigation and will inform you once we receive confirmed information concerning a new procedural development.

Thank you for your continued trust.

Kind regards,
