ProCap Newsletter No. 64
Dear Clients,
In cases involving online investment fraud, one category of information that may prove particularly valuable is the communication between victims and individuals representing the platform.
When discussing evidence, victims often focus primarily on payment records, account balances, or transaction confirmations. While such documents are undoubtedly important, communications exchanged throughout the course of the relationship with the platform may also provide significant information regarding how the platform operated and how particular representations were made.
Communications may take many forms, including emails, messages exchanged through communication applications, platform chat records, text messages, and records of telephone conversations. In some cases, these communications may contain information regarding investment opportunities, expected returns, withdrawal procedures, requests for additional payments, or explanations provided when difficulties arose.
The value of such communications does not necessarily depend on any single message. Information that appears routine or insignificant when viewed individually may become more relevant when considered together with other communications or compared with information obtained from additional victims.
In investigations involving multiple affected individuals, authorities may review communications in order to identify recurring patterns, similarities in representations made to different victims, or common methods used by individuals associated with a particular platform.
For this reason, it may be beneficial to preserve all available communications, including messages that may initially appear unimportant. Older communications can sometimes provide useful context regarding how interactions developed over time and may assist in reconstructing the sequence of events relevant to a particular case.
Victims who retain emails, messages, screenshots, contact details, and other communication records may therefore be preserving information that could later assist in establishing relevant facts during an investigation or legal proceeding.
As always, we encourage victims to preserve any available documentation relating to their interactions with the platform and to maintain copies of communications whenever possible.
We will continue to monitor developments and keep you informed of any information relevant to your case.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
