ProCap Newsletter No. 72
Dear Clients,
At present, there is no new verified development concerning the ProCap case that requires action from our clients.
This week, we would like to briefly address a situation that frequently causes confusion in online investment fraud cases: being asked to make an additional payment before existing funds can supposedly be withdrawn.
Why should additional payment requests be treated carefully?
Investors may sometimes be told that money is available for withdrawal, but that a further payment must first be made for a “tax”, “fee”, “commission”, “account verification” or another stated reason.
The important point is that such a request should be assessed separately from the balance displayed on the platform.
A large account balance does not itself prove that the displayed funds actually exist or are available for withdrawal. Similarly, a request for an additional payment does not establish that paying it will result in the release of the existing balance.
Why can these requests be significant evidence?
Even where no further payment is made, communications concerning withdrawal conditions may help show how the platform responded when an investor attempted to access their funds.
For this reason, emails, messages and screenshots relating to unsuccessful withdrawal attempts or requests for additional payments should be preserved.
What does this mean for ProCap clients?
We are not reporting any new withdrawal request or payment demand in the ProCap case. The purpose of this update is to explain why such communications can be important when assessing the overall history of an investment.
If you receive any new communication purporting to come from ProCap or from someone claiming that your previous funds can now be recovered in exchange for an additional payment, please do not assume that the request is genuine simply because it refers to your previous investment. Preserve the communication and forward it to us for review.
There is currently no need to resend documentation already provided.
We will continue to monitor developments concerning ProCap and will inform you of any verified information relevant to your position.
Thank you for your continued trust.
Kind regards,
Attorney Zoran Miljaković
